What is the Innovation In Action network?
Innovation In Action is a collaborative business-led network that identifies and
applies solutions to real issues and opportunities faced by South Yorkshire
businesses.
By co-developing supported bite-sized projects were able to break down barriers,
make innovation adoption easier, and unlock growth opportunities.
Who is it for?
Businesses of all shapes and sizes can get involved in our peer-to-peer networking,
challenges, and knowledge sharing.
A growing community of pioneering manufacturing, life science, health and
wellbeing, and green energy companies are collaborating regionally to compete
nationally and internationally.
How does it work?
The starting point is to identify a common challenge constraining regional
businesses. We access tech, match local SMEs to industry mentors, and leverage
the support of regional innovation specialists with business know-how to drive
meaningful change.
The challenge projects create a safe space for new ideas, testing technology,
derisking change, and delivering tangible business benefits – piloting new
approaches that can be refined, repeated and scaled.
Call to Action
Building on the success and enthusiasm of all involved in the first challenge, we are now planning to co-design at least two new challenge pilot projects for 2025.
Current challenge ideas our business colleagues and partners would like to explore and develop into impactful projects include:
- Addressing engineering skills shortages and recruitment challenges
- Increasing profitability through productivity improvements
